Stitch After Stitch After Stitch...

Kuidas seda nüüd öeldagi... Viimased kaks nädalat on olnud üks emotsionaalne karussell. Ühel päeval on näpud kudumisest villis, järgmisel aju plahvatusohtlik, kolmandal päeval tahaks rõõmust kuule hüpata, sest viimane eksamihinne laekus ka kenasti ÕISi...

Hmm... how should I start... Well, the last two weeks have been quite an emotional rollercoaster. One day I feel sorry for myself for having blisters because of knitting, the other day I experience several brain explosions, and on the third day I want to jump to the Moon because all my subjects are correctly listed on the school internet system... But that's life, I guess. This time I won't bother you with long writing post, I'll let you enjoy the pictures (which I hope you do). The writing part of my final thesis is waiting for the binding. But here's my practical part which is finished... Finally. She was pretty haughty, demanding for the thread of 1,2 kg and three pairs of knitting needles, which walked away for some days and then came back again...

When the Light in the Tunnel is So Bright

Siin on valik pilte lapitehnikast, kus õppisin kaheksas erinevas tehnikas kujundeid kokku õmblema.

There have been hard times and fun times during the past few days. But most of all, life is just a bowl of cherries. Yesterday, when I was cycling home from school, listening how the birds were singing, feeling the warm summer breeze on my skin and hair, I finally realized, this is it - I've passed all the subjects at university and there's only left the last piece of my final thesis...

Here's a collection of some patchwork, where I learned eight different techniques how to sew together different pieces. I had to attach all these different projects together into one piece of work. I designed my bicycle's cart and also a covering for my sewing machine. I hope you like the photos! Until next time, be happy and creative!

Loneliness with the 20th Century Fashion Drawing

I was alone during the last few days and I quite enjoyed this opportunity. I could listen to music as loud as I wanted and dance as crazy as possible, hang around Pinterest and Tumblr, do some exercise but most of all, concentrate on the study of styles.

Sisu poolest on tegemist 20. sajandi moega. Esimene ülesanne oli iga kümnendi kohta joonistada kaks ajastule iseloomulikku tegelinskit.

The study of styles is a funny subject that lasted only a little more than half of the semester. Of course, I could take part only in few lectures. The reason was simple: I had two other subjects exactly at the same time. Oh, well. But thanks to my kind teacher I could study it by myself and here I am now, staying home for some days just to do the assignments. The subject includes fashion in the 20th century. The first assignment was to draw two different fashion figures of every decade.

Teiseks ülesandeks tuli valida mingi kümnend ja sellest inspireerituna kavandada pisike kollektsioon, millest kolm tuli ka koos mannekeeniga teostada. Selleks tuli korraks vesi tulele panna ja üks tassike teed võtta. Piimaga teed. Musta teed. Mmm.

The second assignment had to represent a certain decade by creating a little collection of it. This meant that I also had to make three little models and sew them clothes from my collection. Well, that situation needed a cup of tea with some energy. And so I had some nice black tea with milk. Just because coffee is NOT my cup of tea. Literally.

Natuke traadi väänamist ja mingid mannekeenilaadsed isendid siit valmisidki. Keerulisem oli riietega. Nende jaoks tuli ju lõiked teha ja siis need imetillukesed kangajupid omavahel võimalikult normaalselt kokku õmmelda. Minu nn kollektsiooni märksõnad: 1920ndad, tennisekleidid, Piet Mondriani kompositsioonid punase, musta, sinise ja kollasega.

Some wire bending and my so-called models were done. Harder was to make clothes for them. I had to start with making the sewing pieces and then sew them normally together. The key works for my collection: 1920s, tennis skirts, compositions with red, black, blue and yellow by Piet Mondrian.

I have to mention that NOW I understood how thankful I should be to my Mom who sometimes used to sew clothes for my Barbies. Those clothes are so tiny and so uncomfartable to sew! Respect to all the people in the world who do such kind of work every single day from year to year and maybe earn simply five dollars in a month. Insane! But when my brave models were finally ready for their fashion show, they fell down. And stayed there. Oh, well.

Juba libedamalt läks kavandite vormistamisega. Natuke sirgeldamist, lõikamist-kleepimist ja valmis! Vist esimest korda ülikooli jooksul tegin ma ühe praktilise aine otsast lõpuni paari päevaga valmis. Mis veelgi meeliülendavam - ma haarasin tööd kaenlasse ja esitasin täiesti õigeks kuupäevaks ära kah! Nagu keskkoolis.

A lot easier was to design the sketches. Some scrawling, cutting and gluing and done! I assume, it was the first time during my university when I actually finished one project within two days. And what is more, I grabbed it into my arms and brought right to school just in time. Like in high school, where everything was so simple.

And so April was over and May came in. Many happy people returned home and I was delighted to see them all. It's good to be alone but a lot better to have some company. Until we meet again, keep yourselves happy!
